This notice follows the main things you can do on OkieDown.com: browse, request a download, send feedback and contact support. It explains the information involved in each. Questions and privacy requests go to [email protected].
First, opening a page
Your browser sends technical information so the website can respond. This includes an IP address, browser details, the requested URL and a request time. The hosting and delivery systems can keep access and error logs to maintain the service, troubleshoot faults and identify abusive requests.
OkieDown keeps catalogue activity records for page views and download requests. These include the content item, path, language and event time and contribute to individual-page and daily totals. Those website records are different from tracking your activity inside an app.
Then, using browser features
Cookies support the website session and interactions. A content page can also set a random visitor cookie that helps distinguish submissions when reviews or ratings are available. The visitor cookie has a lifetime of up to one year; your browser may remove it earlier. The review system uses a derived identifier rather than putting an email address in that cookie.
You can inspect, block or delete cookies through your browser. Some actions, including submitting feedback, may not work without them. Deleting cookies affects your browser's copy; it does not by itself remove a past email, comment or server log.
When you choose a download
The website records the download request for its usage statistics. A file may be supplied by a storage or delivery service, or the download may open another website. That service receives the connection information necessary to deliver the file. A request is not confirmation of installation or of later use.
An installed app may ask for its own permissions, create an account or process information under the developer's policy. This notice does not govern those activities. Check the app's privacy information before providing personal data to it.
When you leave a message
If you email us, we receive your email address and the information in the message, including any name or attachments you supply. We use it to answer the enquiry, investigate the reported issue and retain a relevant correspondence record. Sending a message is your choice, but missing details can limit our ability to help.
If comments or ratings are enabled, we receive your chosen display name, comment or rating and a visitor identifier used to limit duplicate submissions. Approved contributions can appear publicly. Do not include information in a public contribution that you would only want support to see.
The reasons for using it
Where applicable law calls for a legal basis, we rely on legitimate interests for the ordinary operation and security of the website and for answering voluntary enquiries. Legal requirements provide the basis for disclosures we are obliged to make. A use that requires consent needs a separate consent process; reading this notice is not that process. You may object to processing based on legitimate interests by contacting support.
How the information is handled behind the scenes
Authorised website administrators and providers of hosting, storage, delivery and email services can process the records needed for their work. A disclosure may also be necessary to meet a legal requirement, investigate misuse or handle a rights dispute. Providers can process information outside the country where you live. You can ask us about the arrangements relevant to your information.
Information is kept according to its purpose and the circumstances: resolving an enquiry, investigating an incident, maintaining a published contribution or meeting a legal record-keeping duty. These factors can result in different retention periods for different records. We apply access controls and other operational safeguards, but no internet service can promise that every transmission or stored record is free of risk.
Your options do not end when a visit ends
Depending on your location and the applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion, restriction or a portable copy of personal information, and you may object to certain uses. Where consent is the basis for a use, it can be withdrawn. You may also complain to the data protection authority responsible for your area.
Write to [email protected] with the action you are requesting and enough information to find the record. We may need proportionate verification before disclosing or changing it. Legal obligations and other applicable exceptions can affect what action is available.
Children and changes to this notice
OkieDown is a general-interest catalogue, not a service designed to collect children's personal details. A parent or guardian can contact us if a child has sent personal information that should be reviewed. An app's presence in the catalogue is not an age-suitability decision.
If the website's data practices change, we will revise this notice and its date. Any separate notice or consent required by applicable law remains necessary; continuing to browse is not a blanket agreement to new uses of information.
