Word is a timed word-search game built around finding as many English words as possible in a grid of letters before the selected session ends. The challenge combines vocabulary knowledge with quick scanning, while adjustable settings let players choose a shorter, simpler round or a larger, longer search.

Grid sizes and time limits

Each game uses one of three grid formats: 4x4, 5x5, or 6x6. The smaller grid can provide a more compact search, while the larger layouts give players more letters to examine. The time limit is also adjustable, from 3 to 30 minutes, so a session can be configured for a brief game or a more extended word hunt.

Finding words and using the board

The main play loop is to scan the available letters, identify possible words, and continue searching until time runs out. Looking for familiar prefixes and letter combinations can help narrow the search. When a longer word is difficult to spot, breaking it into smaller components may reveal other possibilities.

Word includes tools that provide additional information during a game. Players can see the number of possible words and check how many words a particular letter can be used in. If the current view is not helping, the board can be rotated to offer a different perspective on the same letters. Hints are also available for players who need assistance.

Progress and game overview

Progress can be saved for later, allowing an unfinished session to be revisited. A detailed overview of the game provides information about the current word-finding performance, giving players a way to review the session alongside the chosen grid and time settings.
