Al Mashhad

Al Mashhad is a mobile app for navigating religious sites and keeping track of prayer schedules, ceremonies, service updates, and nearby facilities. It combines location-aware maps with announcements and configurable alerts to help travelers, pilgrims, local residents, and groups plan visits and move around busy pilgrimage centers.

Which information does the app bring together?

The app combines daily prayer timings, venue maps, community notices, and a calendar of ceremonies and gatherings in one interface. Its home feed highlights the next prayer time, nearby facilities, and current notices, while persistent navigation and search controls provide access to route planning, timetable checks, and event browsing.

Can prayer times be adjusted for local conventions?

Prayer times are synchronized according to the user's location and selected calculation method. The available settings include toggles for madhab or local conventions, along with pre-prayer reminders for users who want advance notifications.

What can the maps show?

Al Mashhad provides zoomable maps with pins for entrances, service points, and disability-access routes. GPS positioning works with map layers that identify pedestrian paths, recommended walking corridors, and alternate passages when primary access points are congested. Map pins can include short descriptions and estimated walking times from the current position.

How does it handle announcements and events?

The app can deliver event alerts and service updates, including crowd advisories and temporary closures. Users can choose which event categories trigger push notifications and adjust how announcements appear. Quiet-mode scheduling can suppress notifications during resting hours while allowing urgent messages through.

Is the app useful without a network connection?

Cached maps and schedules remain available in offline mode, which can be useful when roaming or network access is limited. This offline support applies to stored information; live announcements and other connected functions may depend on current data access.

What languages and accessibility-related options are available?

The interface and notifications are offered in multiple languages for international visitors. Map pins identify disability-access routes, while the broader map information covers entrances and service points to support movement through the site.

Can groups use Al Mashhad when planning visits?

The app supports sharing route suggestions and coordinating meeting points through integrated sharing functions. Groups can use the event calendar, route information, and venue notices when arranging attendance at ceremonies or navigating between locations.

What controls affect notifications and location features?

Location access is used for route guidance and other location-aware services. The app also supports optional features such as calendar syncing and push notifications. Background services are minimized unless live location sharing or continuous navigation is active, and the description states that low-power GPS polling and smart caching are used to reduce battery demand.

What does the app state about data handling?

Al Mashhad requests permissions needed for location-aware functions and selected optional features. The description states that route-guidance location data is processed locally whenever possible, while aggregated usage statistics are anonymized. Users can disable data collection or remove cached content through available controls.

What does the initial setup cover?

Initial setup includes granting location access for navigation and selecting preferred prayer-time conventions. An onboarding tour introduces map controls, alert settings, and emergency contact features. A Nearby tab is provided for viewing essential services within walking distance.
